How to easily hack Facebook account?

Cyber security is the major concern now-a-days. Companies are spending millions of Dollars to protect user’s privacy. However, it seems that online privacy achievement is still a major challenge. 

Now there is authentic news that Facebook account can be hacked easily and it has been demonstrated. It is a nightmare for Facebook users that there privacy can be compromised anytime with very basic skills. This blog doesn’t promote hacking skills, so just overview of the process has been elaborated.

To hack anyone’s Facebook account, you just have to click Forget Password and you must have known the victim mobile number. The hack is possible due to the vulnerability in Mobile SS7 stack. SS7 is the abbreviation of Signal System 7 and has been adopted by almost all Telecommunication companies. To hack Facebook account, the hacker has to intercept SMSes. Major social media sites have stored your mobile number. It will be used to reset password and other authentication services. SS7 has vulnerability that it trusts all messages without knowing their origin. Due to this vulnerability, a hacker can easily divert calls and sms messages to any other device. Now you can have clear idea that hacker will have to click Forget password and receive new on his/her own device. It is so simple and easy. 

Unfortunately, this hack is not only meant for Facebook, it can be widely used to hack many of the popular social media sites. This vulnerability can be used to listen your calls too. Surprised! But its fact.

Now the question is, how can we protect ourselves? The answer is simple, don’t link your mobile number to any social media service, never enabled SMS recovery option and always use communication apps with end-to-end encryption.
