Facebook has launched Suicide Prevention App

Facebook Suicide
It sounds strange, but social media giant Facebook has launched its Suicide prevention App. The App will be available for users in near future. How will it work?

It will allow people to flag posts from friends who can harm themselves. Currently, it is available for English Language users, but soon will be deployed to other languages. If you find anything suspicious about friend, you can flag the post by simply selecting from drop-down menu. A hidden message will be sent to Suicide Prevention Organizations and they will act fast to stop. The post may also be seen by Facebook Global Community Operations team.

The App was developed with close coordination of mental health organizations. Suicide prevention organizations like save.org, Lifeline and help of forefront are partners with Facebook to help prevent suicides. In most of the countries, suicide rate is getting higher and it is a good initiative by Facebook and will save precious human lives. With this App, Facebook data will be used by Psychiatrists and Psychologists to prevent mental diseases.

Such App had already been launched in United Kingdom last year. But unfortunately it was stopped due to privacy concerns. It is now the duty of Facebook to maintain balance between safety and privacy.
