North Korea is situated in East Asia and has distanced itself from rest of the world. There are many disputed acts of North Korea like Ballistic Missiles. Now there is news that A Facebook clone has been launched in North Korea. It is hosted at starcon.net.kp. It is a feature rich clone and PhpDolphin has been used as development tool. It includes news feed, messaging, personal spaces etc.  The advertising source chosen is Twitter and tweeter feed are being used to ask people to start using this new app.

It is also rumored that it is the project of North Korea Star telecom Service and was not intended to be accessible from outside. Almost 300 accounts have been setup. The site was first spotted by a researcher at network management firm.

Update: The website has been hacked and goes offline.
