Cyberspace, A new battlefield

Cyber Warfare Image

Cyber warfare is not a new word for most of us. It has been coined a decade ago and it means that attack on enemy’s Information and Communication Technology (refer to as ICT) Networks. The attack maybe a hacking attempt, stealing crucial information or any other act to sabotage the enemy’s core network structure. We have seen many examples in the past like stuxnet. There is also a rumor that one of the nuclear incidents was the result of it.

Now there is news that NATO members will designate Cyber Warfare as official operation domain. Before this designation only Air, Sea, Land and Space are designated warfare operational domains. Germany is the first country who emphasize on the need of separate cyber command. The afore-mentioned designation will be expected in coming Warsaw Summit. It is worth note here that United States and Europe had already announced cyberspace as war operational domain.
